About the Book:
Kate Donovan is burned out on work, worn down by her dating relationships, and in need of an adventure. When her grandmother asks her to accompany her to Redbud, Pennsylvania, to restore the grand old house she grew up in, Kate jumps at the chance.
Upon her arrival in Redbud, Kate meets Matt Jarreau, the man hired to renovate the house. Kate can't help being attracted to him, drawn by both his good looks and something else she can't quite put her finger on. He's clearly wounded--hiding from people, from God, and from his past. Yet Kate sets her stubborn heart on bringing him out of the dark and back into the light...whether he likes it or not.
When the stilted, uncomfortable interactions between Kate and Matt slowly shift into something more, is God finally answering the longing of her heart? Or will Kate be required to give up more than she ever dreamed?
My Review:
My Stubborn Heart is a beautiful and heartwarming tale. A book that shows the mercies and continious love that our heavenly Father bestows on his children and creation, no matter how stubborn they may become.
This author chose characters that were out of the ordinary, making this book a fun read. Kate is your average girl, not superbly and unrealistically beautiful, persistent, passionate, and oh yes very quirky. Matt on the other hand is your unimaginably handsome, not so heroic type of guy. Becky made the two characters with such an authenticity, expressing true emotions, which added a realistic feel to them. Adding other funny characters to the mix just made the story all the more better.
My absolute favorite thing about this book, is the amount of spirituality it contained. Not many contemporary novels portray christian characters as true godly people. Throughout the book there was mentions of Kates' prayer life, God actually speaking and answering, and Gods' gradual working hand in the lives of the characters. Having this factor made this contemporary read very refreshing.
The writing style was easy to read and enjoyable. The pace of the book was slow, but with enough action to keep you reading.
I think My Stubborn Heart would have made a better book if the author left out some unnecessary words. As a Christian I also did not like the fact that the characters participated in Yoga and Halloween. The fact that these were included, I would probably not read the book again, however, everything else was very engaging.
I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
I received this book for free, from Litfuse Publicity, in exchange for my honest review.

About the Author:
During her childhood in California, Becky frequently produced homemade plays starring her sisters, friends, and cousins. These plays almost always featured a heroine, a prince, and a love story with a happy ending. She's been a fan of all things romantic ever since.
Becky and her husband lived overseas in the Caribbean and Australia before settling in Dallas, Texas. It was during her years abroad that Becky's passion for reading turned into a passion for writing. She published three historical romances with Avon Books, then put her career on hold for several years to care for her kids, then recently returned to writing sheerly for the love of it. She felt led to move to the genre of contemporary Christian romance and couldn't be more thrilled with it.
These days Becky can be found failing but trying to keep up with her housework, sweating at the gym, carting her kids around town, playing tennis, hunched over her computer, eating chocolate, or collapsed on the sofa watching TV with her husband.
