About The Book:
"Sadie Wagner has always been devoted to her family. So when her stepfather is injured and can't work, she decides to leave home and accept a position as a clerk at the mercantile in Goldtree, Kansas. Goldtree also offers the opportunity to use her God-given singing talent--though the promised opera house is far different from what she imagined. With her family needing every cent she can provide, Sadie will do anything to keep her job.
McKane comes to Goldtree at the request of the town council. The town has been plagued by bootlegging operations, and Thad believes he can find the culprit.
After he earns enough money doing sheriff work, he wants to use it to pay for his training to become a minister.
Thad is immediately attracted to the beautiful singer who performs in Asa Baxter's unusual opera house, but when he hears her practicing bawdy tunes, he begins to wonder if she's far less innocent than she seems. And when Sadie appears to be part of the very crimes he's come to investigate, is there any hope the love blossoming between them will survive?"
My Review:
This book was satisfying from the beginning to the very last page. It was a comfortable read. It was written to be read at an easy pace. At the beginning of the book, you immediately fell in love with the hard working Sadie and dashing Thad. My favorite character had to be Thad. Kim portrayed him with such an easy to be around personality that you could not help but enjoying his jokes and small talk. The main Character, Sadie was a woman to admire. She was dedicated to her family. She worked with diligent hands, and had a phenomenal voice. She is such an inspiration, so to see her "downfall" was hard to accept, but her reconciliation to God was bitter sweet.
The story line fed your amusement desire, but it also fed your spiritual needs. I liked everything about the book, except that there was very little action and suspense. At the very beginning of the story you knew who the bootlegger was, so it was not a surprise. However, to my delight the story picked up considerably towards the end. So overall this was a nice and pleasant read. I recommend this book to all types of readers. The romance was simple, but not a bore. I rate Song of My heart with a 4 out of 5.
I received this book for free from Litfuse Publishers in exchange for my honest opinion.
