Count Your Blessings

When I was little, I used to love to take out my wiggly teeth. Now that I have all my permanent teeth I have no more teeth to wiggle and take out. It just so happens that my little sister is at the age that her teeth are coming out. Yay for me! I have already taken out one in the bottom. Here I am trying to take out her top tooth. I look kinda disgusted here:) I did not end up taking it out, It came out while she was eating her bagel.

I actually received the book marks from Kelly's blog I think two weeks ago. They are so beautiful and each is unique.

On Thursday we went to ice skating in Central Park.

I finished reading the Bible in 90 Days! This was my second time completing it and this time was actually easier.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

We have all heard the saying April showers bring May flowers. Spring is a time where everything in nature starts to wake up. The flowers begin to open, the weather becomes nicer, and spring cleaning begins. Next month I will be sharing ideas on how we can:

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?

I would choose 21, because I would be done with college ready to start my nursing career. (I have no idea how long nursing school takes)

What makes you smile?

Almost anything. A funny part in a book. Reading a sweet email. Catching myself when I think of the weirdest things.

Which activities make you loose track of time?

READING!!! Instagramming;) Blogging.

How would your best friend describe you?

Depends who it is. For the most part I would hope to be described as caring, loving, fun to be around with, and just... ME.

What is your favorite color?

Purple

What is one of the weirdest or quirkiest thing you've done recently?

I almost fell flat on my bottom over a tiny, I mean super tiny, puddle of water. Good thing Daddy was there to hold onto;)

Do you think crying is a sign of weakness or strength?

Crying is totally a strength.

What is the difference between living and existing?

Living is doing something, making in an impact on the world. Life is Jesus. Existing is breathing.

If you could own any business of your own what would it be?

First a photography business, then Christian library.

If you could go anywhere in the world with your camera, where would it be? Why? 

I would of course go to Israel. Imagine taking pictures where Jesus walked! I would also go to Scotland. I read a really good series and it was centered there, would love to see Edinburgh Castle and hear their beautiful accents.

What is something not many people know about you?

I have kept so many birthday cards over the past years that I do not know what to do with them.

My Review:


This is my first Tricia Goyer book but will not be my last.  Her story about the Titanic comes at a most timely point as its 100 year anniversary is approaching.  Thus making her subject and plot all the more interesting to me.

By incorporating a compassionate woman, wealthy yet loving father, stubborn son, and prodigal son, the author definitely set you up for an unforgettable journey. It was not until I was half way through the book, that I realized the story was written in a time period spanning only a week. This made for a  fast read. The author did a wonderful job at describing the surrounding scenery aboard the great floating palace. You could very well feel the lush carpets in first class, imagine the joy the second class passengers experienced at being on the ship of dreams, and almost hearing the rumble of different languages below in third class.

The majority of the story was aboard the Titanic, however, the sinking of the so called unsinkable ship was retold magnificently. Vivid descriptions allowed one to  envision each the battle of emotions waging war in the hearts of man-from confusion and shock,  screams of horror, even anger, to the sheer joy of being alive.

Though the majority of the book took place on the magnificent ship and lasted only a week, the author ended the story well leaving no loose ends to tie up. It incorporated everything from romance, to the power of forgiveness, the transformation of man through God, redemption of the prodigal son, and true everlasting love found only in Jesus. I would give this book a 5 out of 5.

Ready. Set. Write!

In our diary journey, we are up to the writing part. We have chosen the book and have personalized it (if you have not yet done so, I would encourage you to read the last two posts concerning this here and here).  But now comes the hard part, writing. Many times we think we have nothing to write about. We fall into that misconception that our lives are boring. 

You do not have to live on a farm, tackling pigs and milking cows to have an adventurous day.  Nor, do your days have to consist of the hustle and bustle of city life to make for a movie plot line.   Adventure is found in many different ways. Each person's life is unique and different. 

I like to write a personal count my blessings everyday to be thankful of all the things big or little that have happened that day. That is a great way to get the creative writing juices flowing. Since this is a journal you can elaborate on your simple one sentence blessing of that day. You may thank God for the great time you had at the zoo, but in your journal you could write your thoughts and expand further on what you saw and heard. What was your favorite part of the experience.

You could write this journal directed to your future children, God, or even just yourself. I think I am going to write it for myself, but descriptive enough and meaningful that if my children were to read it they could understand my life as a teen. You could include small prayers and petitions to pour out your heart to God.  

I encourage you to start simple. I had a good day... I went to... I got a new pair of... Make sure to keep any reminders of that day such as your ticket to the zoo, or your sticker from the doctor.  This is a list of ideas you could write about, which I found on Becky's blog. The list is guided towards picture taking ideas, but you could very well use the same ideas for writing. Hope it helps.

Do not get discouraged if you do not write on a daily basis. It can be frustrating to see that the last time you wrote was 3 months ago. You just have to pick up where you last left off and continue.

A Canon and Zoo Type of Day

So as you know, my mother recently bought herself a camera. She got a Canon Rebel T3i. Over the past days she has been trying it out. It so happens that we decided to go to the Bronx Zoo yesterday. The following pictures are about our adventure to the zoo, and testing out the new camera. There is even one of Kianna here. Hope you enjoy!

Designing Your Diary

So the last post about the diary was about the importance of and starting your diary. The next step is designing your diary. I chose a composition notebook because of the size and also so I could design it. 

There are many ways you can design your notebook. You could cover the front cover with scrapbook  paper, add stickers, paste photos of yourself, or cut out words and things that describe you.

If you chose a stationary notebook that comes already designed you can not do much. You could probably design the first page. Write your name in a beautiful script and add stickers.

I chose to add some scrapbook paper to make it look elegant.
